Scrivener For Windows (aka The Best Word Processing Software in the World) is currently on sale for 50% off! I got the news from a mailing list I’m subscribed to. It felt like serendipity as I was just reading Scrivener praise in Jonathan Green’s second book, Breaking Orbit: How to Write, Publish and Launch Your First Bestseller on Amazon Without a Mailing List, Blog or Social Media Following (Serve No Master) (Volume 2).
He LOVES the software and can’t praise it enough.
A direct quote from him on this Award-Winning Writing software used by New York Times Best-Selling Authors:
There is no word processor better than Scrivener. I write everything in Scrivener, from books to blog posts to book descriptions…It’s the centerpiece of my business, and I have put more than one million words through it.
And he’s not the only one. At my partner’s workplace (in academia) it has become the tool of choice for scholars working on journal articles and book length projects. Novelists, playwrights, scriptwriters have loved Scrivener for a long time. Academics and other writers are discovering its powers as well.
Why is this software so special? It’s really not just another clone of Word or a gussied up Notepad app. Scrivener actually lets you break your writing down into the smallest module-like units. Think of a mindmap that had a fully functioning word processor built into each node and then, when you are ready to print, you can bring all the nodes together seamlessly as if they are one document. You can also rearrange the nodes, leave out what you don’t want, and much more. You have multiple screens and can have running notes, folders, tags, and choose what to compile and export as one document. This opens up the possibility of having multiple versions of the same document in one file and the list goes on and on…
Usually, the Scrivener application sells for $40 (unless it’s national novel writing month and then there’s a sale). For the next day or so, you can get it for $20. You can check it out here (no affiliate link, they don’t even have an affiliate program):

The writing software works on both Mac and PC. Some say the Mac version has a few more bells and whistles, but I wouldn’t know. If you know of differences between the two versions of Scrivener please sound off int he comments below!
